Reflection Post #4

Standard

Explain the difference between a wiki and a blog and give your opinion on if you foresee yourself using either tool in your classroom instruction.

A wiki is a web resource that allows users to add and edit content collectively online. Additionally, wikis have multiple authors, can be edited by a group or team,  wikis can contain links to other wiki pages, and are continuously changing and growing rapidly. They are most useful when planning projects; especially when those working collaboratively are in different locations! Wikis are also easily accessible and simple and easy to use.  Additionally, wikis are helpful tools for organizing, thinking, and tracking both information and actions. On the other hand, a blog can be explained as an individuals online journal.  Blogs are typically maintained by an individual with regular entries which mostly contain information of personal opinions. Also, I can foresee myself integrating both tools into my classroom instruction. Blogs will allow my students to openly express themselves, where they might not be so comfortable doing so in from of all their peers and wikis will allow my students to learn how to work cooperatively together to achieve a common goal.
